Legat Petra Lubade, Iličićeva Street 1

Hidden Gems
A dark night in 1957. On the door of Petar Lubarda's apartment, where the famous painter is living and working, and freezing for most of the time, you can hear it knocking. Men in leather coats enter and tell the couple to pack their things. No further explanations. They pack everything into a truck and drive them to a beautigul house in Dedinje. After unloading, one of the men spills colors on the floor: “You have been living here for three years and you are a painter, so you are messy.” Everything is part of a scenario. Tito, his next door neighbor had received a request from a foreign delegation to visit the atelier of the famous artist. The artist though, son of an executed enemy of the regime did not have a proper atelier, so it was set up. Today the house is the Petar Lubarda Museum. And next to his masterful work it offers one of the most precious views over Belgrade.
