The flying tower of courage

Belgrade

Kula Nebojša, lower Kalemegdan

Goosebumps
"For five centuries the Kalemegdan fortress is home of the Nebojša tower. Although there are many interpretations of the name, the most credible one is that is comes from the Serbian verb for not being afraid. And the name is well chosen. Always has the tower been forming the first lines of defense. In 1490 defense was about to break and the tower that was located in the upper city was about to be captured. But as legend has it, the tower could not stand the idea and took off, into the air. It relocated to the shore of the Danube where it stands today. You can find out for yourself if the tower makes you feel more courageous. Does your hair stand up when you enter and understand what a brutal dungeon it was before being turned into a museum recently? "
