The funny-looking caterpillar called brucomela (apple-caterpillar) in Italian was created and built in the 1970s thanks to the flair of the illustrator, set designer, and mechanical designer Armando Tamagnini, from Reggio Emilia. It was Tamagnini himself who, commissioned by the amusement park Fiabilandia, designed the ride kids love most and famous worldwide as the Caterpillar Ride.
