The Puppet Barge Theatre has its own unique magic. After all, no normal venue will do when the production calls for wooden marionettes, mood lighting, lively music and several master puppeteers pulling dozens of strings from above. After a few years of touring, Movingstage Marionette Company put down quasi-roots and opened its own theatre on a river barge. Here in the 55-seat venue on the canal at Little Venice, the troupe’s imaginative plays have delighted children for over 30 years. But the company’s touring spirit lives on. In August and September, the barge casts off and heads south along the River Thames to Richmond. After the matinée show, take a water bus to Camden for a bite to eat.
