No trip to Hamburg is complete without a canoe tour. But there are alternatives to just going up and down the Alster. Take the Dove-Elbe water park for example. The water is almost current-free, with hardly any rapids – perfect for beginners and children. Even better, it is a lot quieter than the touristy Alster. And whether you choose to rent a canoe or kayak, you get more fun for your money. To get here, rent a boat at the Bergedorf canoe harbour. From there you can continue along the Dove-Elbe to the water park. The ride will take you past an old mill and many hidden picnic spots. Don't forget your swimming costume!
