THE ONCE-MISSING KING

THE ONCE-MISSING KING

Leicester

4a St. Martins

Richard III had been King of England for only two years before he was struck down at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485. The defeated monarch was buried without ceremony in Greyfriars Priory, which was later levelled - eventually becoming a car park centuries later. He remained undisturbed until 2012, when his skeleton was exhumed, analysed and positively identified as that of the tragic king. His new resting place is in Leicester Cathedral - a fitting end, considering that he spent his last night before the battle in Leicester as well. Find out more about the life and death of one of England’s most infamous rulers at the nearby King Richard III Visitor Centre.
