On this spot, a 14-year-old "Grock" made his professional debut with an impromptu tightrope walk. Born Adrien Wettach on the outskirts of Biel, Grock trained in circus arts from an early age. His high-wire walk in 1894 began a career that would span decades, and earn Grock a place in the International Clown Hall of Fame.
