Little-known Museo Lázaro Galdiano boasts an exceptional collection of fine and applied art. Inaugurated in 1951, it is located in the former palatial residence of writer José Lázaro Galdiano. Conserving the original interiors, including elaborate baroque painted ceilings, it was declared as a "Bien de Interés Cultural" (Good of Cultural Interest) in 1962. The museum houses Galdiano’s private collection of valuable works dating from the prehistoric period through to the 19th century. Major categories include jewellery, small bronzes, both ecclesiastical and domestic silver, ceramics, carved ivory, and numismatics.
