The eagle-eyed among us might spot something hidden away behind the buildings at number 17, Avenue des Gobelins. It's hard to believe that this magnificent structure is in modern-day Paris and not the pages of a fairytale book. But believe your eyes – there's a Renaissance castle right in the heart of the 13th arrondissement. If you head to 6 Rue Gustave-Geffroy, you’ll be able to get a closer look at the fascinating Château de la Reine Blanche (Castle of the White Queen). Built at the beginning of the 16th century, this imposing manor, complete with elegant turrets, originally belonged to the Gobelins – a family of dyers from Flanders. After that, the chateau became, in turn, a brewery, a tile factory, a tannery, a dyeing shop and even a Jacobin club. Not quite a fairy tale, but almost!
