1960 saw the release of Jean-Luc Godard's Breathless – one of the most influential films in the French New Wave movement. You can follow in the footsteps of the movie, which was shot almost entirely in Paris. Among its most memorable moments, who can forget the final scene, when Jean-Paul Belmondo is shot by police on Rue Campagne-Première? Since filming, the street has hardly changed, and today it appears as if frozen in time. For the full Breathless experience, head to number 11. Here’s where, almost 60 years ago, Michel Poiccard took a bullet and began his desperate run down the street before collapsing. You can see the door from which Belmondo enters the street, and the façades of the buildings that lined his fateful run. While he may not have had the happiest ending in the film, Poiccard lives on forever in this now iconic corner of Paris.
