The Mercure brand was created in 1973 and opened its first hotel a year later in Saint-Witz, France.

1983 - EUROPEAN EXPANSION

In 1983, Mercure opened its first hotel outside of France in Lisbon, Portugal, starting its international growth.

1994 - NEW MARKETS

1994 marks the beginning of Mercure's growth beyond the European market, with hotel openings in the Middle-East, Asia and the Pacific.

2024 - 1000 HOTELS

In 2024, Mercure keeps strengthening its presence across the globe with notable growth in key markets like China and Japan, which allows the brand to celebrate the hotel of its 1000th hotel opening.
