The Coachmakers Arms, 9 St Stephens Road

During the Middle Ages, there was reputed to be at least one pub for every day of the year in Norwich. Today, East Anglia has the largest number of microbreweries in the country. Like to sample their real ales? Try the Coachmakers Arms on St Stephen’s Road. This cosy pub’s history stretches back to the 17th century when it was a coaching inn. It sits on the site of an old asylum – and its former inmates are believed to still haunt the pub today.
