London

4 Stable Street

Like to sail a piece of London history? The Regent’s Canal was built in the first half of the 19th century to link the Grand Junction Canal with the River Thames. For the first part of its life, it was a vital transport link, carrying timber, coal, building materials and foodstuffs into and out of London. This job was eventually taken over by railways and trucks. The canal itself only barely escaped being transformed into a train line. Today, it’s a peaceful oasis loved by boaters, cyclists and walkers in the midst of busy London. Climb aboard a canal boat at Granary Square and cruise via St. Pancras Lock all the way to Camden.
