The Blacksmiths Arms is a classic country pub with over 200 years of tradition. Under a low ceiling with exposed beams, settle in for a cosy pint before the roaring fire. Feel like enjoying the outdoors? Take your drink out to the garden and imagine the travellers the site has seen. The watering hole was once a stop for stagecoaches headed to London. We can be reasonably sure the drivers enjoyed ample amounts of the Blacksmiths’ ale. While many associate yards of beer with guzzling university students, legend says the towering drafts were first enjoyed by British stagecoach drivers. As passengers loaded and unloaded at pubs, drivers would wait for as long as it took to finish the tall drink.
