It is the only monument in Italy dedicated to a fundamental figure, namely the teacher who taught Italian in the second half of the nineteenth century, contributing to the spread of the the Italian language in the provinces and across the country.
The bronze statue of Alexander Romano situated in Parco Cervi is in homage to the mission of young teachers who fought illiteracy by teaching grammar, supporting emancipation and a public identity built on language.
