Beside Villino Ruggeri and Pomodoro’s Sphere Within Sphere, Piazzale Libertà seems just the place to admire the sea.
Similar to giant armchairs, four modern-style benches, two white and two red, have been placed beside the ancient benches adorned with winged lions that – after recent restoration – have returned to roar out to sea.
Children love to “ride” the lions, one on each end of the “Panchine della Palla” (the “benches around the Sphere”), and they also become additional seats in case of large groups.
Some chose the luxury of sitting on a work of art from the Belle Époque, some ride wild beasts, and some chose the colors of post-modern art!
