Not to worry, Stendhal’s Syndrome is neither a virus nor a disease that influences writing ability. The disorder is named after the French writer Stendhal, as he has been the most illustrious person to be caught by increased heartbeat, confusion, and sense of weakness in the city of Florence. The episode happened during the writer’s Grand Tour, and more precisely upon exiting the basilica of Santa Croce, the Franciscan gothic jewel. Throughout the years, like the writer many others have been hit by a sense of unrest in front of so much beauty condensed in such a small space. Maybe it is only suggestion, and before the syndrome is scientifically proven: visiting Santa Croce is recommended even more than once a day, before and after meals.
