When you stand and stare at the steel sculpture on the Schurenbachhalde, it feels like you're on the moon. This 15-metre-high tower of rusty iron, put there like a lone sentinel by sculptor Richard Serra, is literally one of the city's most prominent works of art, standing right on the top of this former coal mining slag heap. It can feel a bit eerie up there, especially in the evening when the wind is whistling around your ears. But there is something magical about this place, and you have to experience for yourself. And don't forget your camera, so you can show them back home you spent a day on the moon!
