Charlecote Park

Charlecote Park is a grand 16th-century country house on the banks of the River Avon, surrounded by formal gardens and Capability Brown parkland. A few things make it truly special. First of all, the Lucy family – still in residence in one wing – have lived on the site for an astonishing 900 years. Charlecote also has a herd of deer you may be lucky enough to glimpse during a visit. And, as every local will tell you, a young William Shakespeare is said to have been caught poaching in the grounds and was punished by being “boxed about the ears” by Sir Thomas Lucy. Whether that is true or not, you can be assured of a warmer welcome at Charlecote today!
