Gaze up at two pagan Green Men with foliage falling from their mouths, representing the triumph of spring over winter. In the King’s Chamber, a 16th-century chimneypiece depicts a scene from the legend of Erysichthon, the doomed King of Thessaly who angered the gods by cutting down a sacred oak tree.
