Next to a balcony of the building at number 3, there is a cannonball stuck in the wall, and next to it a plaque with a date: March 20th, 1848. That day of March will always be remembered by the locals, as it was part of the Five days of Milan, a popular rebellion that, in exactly 5 days, brought an end to the Austrian domination over the city. The cannonball, that remained stuck in the building it meant to destroy, is the perfect emblem reminding the city of its pride and willpower to rise again, free and beautiful.
