MILANO IN A GLASS

MILANO IN A GLASS

Milan

Bar Basso - Via Plinio 39

“Milano da bere” (Milan to drink) is the famous catchphrase of an advertisement showing a bottle of 100% made in Milan amaro liquor, with the city of the Duomo in the background. Much more powerful than a simple message to buyers, the slogan has become a saying that contains different interesting aspects related to the city. Milan is the home of the aperitif, although the custom of drinking a glass or two before lunch or dinner was actually born in Turin. There are two addresses to keep in mind when speaking of an aperitivo in Milan: Basso is the café where the “Negroni sbagliato” (the “wrong” version of the Negroni cocktail) was invented, and the flagship Campari bar Camparino was opened by Davide Campari himself in 1915, and has now returned to its original location in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
