Vichy

Source Lardy 5, avenue des Célestins, 03200 Vichy, France

People used to claim that Vichy water was an aphrodisiac for women, comparable to champagne. In his book Les Sources de Vichy en 1873, Dr Casimir Daumas believed that the only water with genuine curative properties came from Vichy. Alas, that statement is impossible to verify as the Lardy spring dried up a long time ago. Today only the pavilion remains, a sublime wooden structure designed in 1902 by the architect Antoine Percilly. The kiosk and refreshment bar, closed since 1967, have been meticulously restored. To see the pavilion for yourself, head to the campus of the Pôle Universitaire de Vichy.
