A HAVEN FOR REPORTERS
Vichy
2 et 4 rue Besse
What is this curious red building in old Vichy? It's none other than the place where the famous journalist Albert Londres was born in 1884. Abandoned for years and put up for sale after endless legal disputes, this 19th-century house with remarkable architecture and double turrets was eventually saved, thanks to the crowdfunding site Ulule. But what's the aim of Regarder Agir, the association managing its renovation? To create Maison Albert Londres, a writers’ house dedicated to great reportage. Londres travelled the world to 'porter la plume dans la plaie' (to put the pen into the wound) before his tragic death in 1932, when the steamer bringing him back from China caught on fire. Today he is considered the founder of investigative journalism. The association intends to keep his memory alive and continue the mission he set for himself: to give voice to those who are never heard.
