But you’re in front of the house of Antoine Courtois, one of the illustrious 18th-century ‘pâtissiers’. Extremely popular in Versailles, and in the courts of Prussia and England, his partridge pâté made the city famous. Back then, these craftsmen – great-grandfathers to today's pork butchers – were famous for making such gourmet delicacies. The legendary local speciality was first invented in the Middle Ages and became very popular in the 18th century.
