Located just a stone's throw away from the casino, the building that houses Villa Homme wasn't always a men's ready-to-wear store. In 1913, this spot was home to one of the first boutiques of Coco Chanel. Determined to liberate jet-set women from the confines of their corsets, the androgynous designer created clothes that were relaxed, practical and stylish. Deauville was a key source of inspiration. At first, it was the city's horses and their saddle pads, which she noticed while watching the purebreds out on the racetracks, that gave her the idea for her famous quilted handbags. The Deauville shore then inspired her signature Chanel beige, invented after a stroll on wet sand.
