Clermont-Ferrand

11 rue Pascal

Rue Pascal is mainly known for the building at No. 4, seat of the regional directorate for cultural affairs (DRAC) in Chazerat House. With its magnificent oval courtyard embellished with fluted rectangular columns, this Louis XVI-style building (completed in 1769) is the most beautiful example of 18th-century neoclassical architecture in Auvergne. A few steps away, tucked among the cobblestones, is a tiny heart that only lovers know how to track down. That's because in Clermont, there are no love-lock bridges. Here, love means freedom. To find the heart, all you have to do is to look in the direction of No. 11, where the symbol of Cupid is located somewhere in front of the gate. The first to spot it gets to kiss the other!
