Carcassonne

Cité Médievale - Place Auguste Pierre Pont

Translated into about 40 languages, Labyrinth is an archaeological mystery novel that was adapted into a two-part TV series produced by the brothers Ridley and Tony Scott. When the director Christopher Smith came to Carcassonne to film, he sought to capture the location exactly as described by author Kate Mosse. The citadel's ramparts are regularly seen on screen, as are downtown streets such as Boulevard Marcou. The superb Hôtel de la Cité, a Mercure hotel, also plays a starring role. If you stop by this little corner of paradise, you might recognise the gardens from the scene in which the heroine, played by Vanessa Kirby, drinks tea with her boyfriend Sebastian Stan. If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to read the book or watch the mini series before you arrive to get the full effect!
