Avignon

5 Rue Laboureur, 84000 Avignon

Nestled in an 18th-century building, the Angladon Museum houses the exceptional collection of French fashion designer Jacques Doucet. Among the items inherited by his nephew Jean Angladon is a real treasure: Van Gogh’s famous 1888 painting, Railway Carriages. This small painting depicts the Paris–Marseille train line. It is the only one of Van Gogh’s works of art that is on public display in the region it comes from – Provence, bathed in the sunlight the painter loved so much. Look for the painting during your visit to this charming museum. It’s on the ground floor, amidst several other rare paintings by other renowned artists.
