Good music, gastronomy from great chefs, and art exhibitions, all on a visit to the monastery of São Bento. But it isn't always like this! Only on the last Sunday of the month is it possible to take advantage of this program and even see the traditional Mass to the sound of Gregorian chant at 10:00 am, performed by the 40 monks who live there and follow the ora et labora tradition ("pray and work"). Then you can buy treats, such as sweets and cakes, made by the faithful themselves, whose recipes are never revealed and are stored in the abbey's archive.
