EATING JAGUAR MEAT BECAME A TRADITION

Curitiba

Augusto Stellfeld street, 799 – Centro

Who has never heard of “bafo de onça” ("jaguar breath")? Commonly used to represent bad breath, this term didn't arise by chance, but from a custom in Curitiba. The people of the area eat jaguar meat, but it's a play on words because the dish is beef. Perhaps initiated as a joke or retaliation in protest of the killings of jaguars - no one knows for sure - the expression became famous and nowadays is classified immaterial city heritage. The delicacy is found in several bars and restaurants, however, many recommend the BarBaran to taste this delight. It's worth it!
