Pearls of the Mediterranean near the Hôtel Promenade des Anglais

A trip through the past at the Masséna museum
The Hôtel Promenade des Anglais is ideally situated for exploring one of the most famous spots on the French Riviera. Frequented by visitors contemplating the sea from the blue chairs and a lot of fitness enthusiasts, the Promenade also boasts a lot of architectural treasures.
The art sanctuary
The Masséna museum stands in the magnificent villa of the same name dating to the late 9th century-early 20th century. Art and furniture occupy two storeys. Napoleon’s death mask and Josephine’s luxurious diadem feature amongst the works of Joseph Fricero or Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux.
At the end of the Promenade
The Nice opera house is a national Historical monument. Inaugurated in 1885 with Verdi’s Aida, the building was designed by François Aune and approved by Charles Garnier. The opera company includes a choir, ballet and a philharmonic orchestra.
The Parc Phœnix is a pleasant end to the Promenade des Anglais. You may want to stroll around its 7 hectares on the lookout for several animal species (otters, macaws, pelicans, etc.). Its greenhouse features six tropical and subtropical climates.
