Al- Fateh Mosque was named after the founder of Bahrain, Ahmed Al-Fateh. Built in the 1980s, it remains one of the largest mosques in Bahrain, accommodating up to 7000 worshippers at once. Al-Fateh mosque is located in the capital city of Manama, next to the King Faisal Highway in a town called Juffair. It hosts the National Library with over 7000 books including Al-Azhar journals, copies of the teachings of Prophet Mohammed and other Islamic encyclopedias. Doors are open for visitors from 9am to 4pm except on Fridays. The mosque was built using marble from Italy, teak wood from India, and glass from Austria, and its fiberglass dome in the largest in the world.
