About this city
Almada is a town bathed by the Atlantic Ocean located on the south bank of the Tagus River, opposite the center of the capital and Belém. It is considered as a dormitory city of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal that has no sea as such. The bridge 25 de Abril, which connects this city with Lisbon, is the ideal place to enjoy the best panoramic views of both cities. Visits to the National Sanctuary of Cristo Rey, which dominates the city, and to the Vasco de Gama Aquarium are obligatory.
