A hike on Caelius, one of Rome’s seven hills, near the Coliseum, leads you to the Santi Giovanni e Paolo church, a magnificent Roman basilica dating from the 4th century. But instead of following the crowd entering through the main doors, look for the entrance leading underground, for what promises to be a fascinating tour. Here you will discover a building and a luxurious villa from ancient Roman times. The frescoes and the path linking the houses are still in good condition. But Shh…this is supposed to be a secret. When you leave, take care not to be seen!
