1 avenue frochot

Goosebumps
Avenue Frochot, in Paris' 9th arrondissement, is a private cul-de-sac. Its access is closed, but from 24 Rue Victor Massé, you can easily see the wrought iron grating and admire the row of beautiful homes and vast villas, which in their time housed artists like Toulouse-Lautrec, Renoir and Degas. Yet in this bucolic setting, the City of Lights reveals glimpses of a shadowy past. Indeed, house No. 1 of this street is worthy of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. This manor is said to have been haunted since the murder of a chambermaid at the beginning of the 20th century. Nocturnal whispers, cries, inexplicable footsteps... the most disturbing sounds can be heard throughout the property. In fact, successive owners have, for the most part, quickly packed up and left. How very eerie.
