The Sanctuary of Truth

The History of Architecture
Pattaya is more known for its hedonistic pursuits, but The Sanctuary of Truth proves that there’s more to life than instant gratifications. From afar, a splendid castle seemingly rises from the sea. Look closer though, and visitors will find that the wooden structure is built with ancient joining techniques without the use of a single metal nail and covered by ornate carvings. Work on the building began in 1981, but it’s not scheduled for completion until 2050. The structure’s creator – eccentric businessman Lek Viriyaphant – designed the structure in the hopes that visitors will “understand ancient life, human responsibility, basic thought, the cycle of living, life relationship with the universe and the common goal of life toward Utopia.” At the very least, you’ll come away with a sense of wonderment at human artistic endeavors.
