Poor changes to Mecure

Sad to see the new changes at Mecure. Payment for parking $20 , locked gates, friends of guests unable to swim in pool if having lunch yet the rooms remain basic. Prices for food and beverages extremely high. I have stayed here for business for years but will now be looking to stay elsewhere

Comfortable stay , bed good pillows ok. Depending on what room type you are in , you can have space or very small space . Resort is gated so stops people parking in that are not staying . Food is over priced and old menu , could do with up grade . Breakfast is ok , but not really hot could do with more choice.

Every single day, 6 planes arrive after midnight. Therefore, every single day, a lot of people make their way to Novotel/Mercure. There are two people available to check 30+ people in. I got to my room at 2:30am. I admit, I screwed up my booking which took longer to sort out, but I waited 40 minutes in line to find that out. I actually booked for the wrong night and didn't realise until I was in the queue checking in. Novotel had no reooms left so I ended up with a room at Mercure. I tried to book online but because it was after midnight I couldn't book a room from the previous day, although it was still the night I was trying to stay. Happy to discuss this further as I think there is a lot of room for improvement with the process for late night arrivals. There must be a better way to check people in. I chose Novotel (before realising my stuff up) because it was going to get me into bed quicker than going anywhere else. It would have been quicker and $150 cheaper to get a taxi to town and stay the night in Darwin. This is what I will be telling my staff to do over the next few months whilst we carry out our contract in NT. I have stayed at Novotels in the past and have had a great experience but this was next level terrible. I don't blame the staff as they were friendly and only following a process. Surely there an be an express system where a room is prepaid, all required details on file and a key card can be retrieved without lengthy interaction with staff. The staff member kindly offered to join me up to save 10%. The email did not come thorugh for me to confirm until a minute or two after and I was too tired to wait so I told him I'd rather pay the full price, than wait for an email that may or may not arrive in the next minute or two. About 15 people waiting behind me too. To pay $394 for the privelage of a few hours sleep before having to check out seems a bit rich, particularly when the lfights come in so late. Guests don't have a choice on when the flights arrive (Only choice from Melbourne is the late one) so we can't get there any earlier. The hotel is set up at the airport to accommodate passengers so the service should be tailored accordingly.
