Checked in late on 7/5/24. Flight was delayed and as it was very late we went straight to the hotel to get some rest after a long day of travel. First impressions were good but the beds were like lying on concrete. Next morning I asked if something could be done as neither of us had slept. Result was they said they would put extra padding on the top.That sounded like the perfect solution. What they did do was put a second mattress protector on, which did not solve the problem. It was very thin and made no difference at all. After another night of less than 3 hours sleep each, we asked for help again. None was forthcoming. We were told that that is the way the beds are, and there was nothing else they could do. I don't want to spend my holiday complaining and we decided that we would use the duvets as extra padding, which was the only option we thought we had open to us. This is a problem this hotel is aware of, as it is mentioned repeatedly in reviews There are solutions, good quality mattress toppers for customers who might need a softer solution, would be an answer. I don't think it's unreasonable. Nor is it rocket science! It would appear that solving the problem is not important to the hotel. The pillows are pathetic, the acces to the shower means climbing into a bath that is much higher than normal, and is very awkward for older people (we are both in our 60's). However it was the least of our problems. No sleep for three nights equals pretty close to exhaustion. It seriously impacted on our enjoyment. The final point of disappointment was we requested a late checkout on 10th May as we had a late flight, and due to the fact that we were both dead on our feet, asked on the evening of the 9th for a late checkout. After a bit of pretend flicking of the keyboard keys, the very unhelpful receptionist told us the best she could do was 1pm. It was not really what we were looking for and declined. The morning receptionist however managed to accommodate us until 4pm!!!!She was the only helpful member of staff we ever encountered. Customer service is awful. Resting b*t*h seemed to be the default expression and rolling of the eyes as you approached a common reaction. The hotel is very poor in the facilities provided for over 600 euros for three nights. The pool area needs some attention in maintenance, loose tiles and rusty railings. Didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on that. In conclusion, I was too tired to enjoy my holiday. It's very expensive for very standard facilities. Most of the staff are unhelpful,surly, and not customer focussed. Only the housekeeping staff ever cracked a smile. I had been really looking forward to a short break with my sister in Nice, and ended up desperate to go home and sleep. Mercure, Notredame, you need to up your game!

I must say I was disappointed on the Hotel standard Hotel location is great, but rooms have low standard, are very small, beds very hard and unconfutable

Perfect Holiday in a Beautiful Hotel .

Had such a relaxing stay in this Hotel, Staff were extremely pleasant and homely, from front Desk to dining to room cleaners. Perfect location in the centre of Nice Ville and less than 10 minute walk to beach ,restaurants etc, If you didn't feel like going to beach, the rooftop is the perfect way to chill out with lovely comfortable lounges and Jacuzzi and a bar with very friendly and kind staff.. There is also a well equipped Fitness room and a beautiful garden on 1st floor. Breakfast is excellent with too many choices to mention and Tea making facilities in the room. My flight was cancelled at short notice and Gian gave me every assistance and help to find me another room , His calming and gentle personality took all my stress away. I will definitely book the Mercure on my next visit.
