The initial Privilege Room allocated was not as advertised. No chairs, very sparse and overlooking carpark. The hotel did move us to a room in the Annexe building which had a sofa, lake view and beautiful bathroom facilities. (Although no fan in the bathroom) Breakfast was sufficiently catered for. Hot food, pastries, good bread etc Dinner was lovely, flavoursome, well presented by lovely staff. Spa was very impressive and Espa massage top class! Location of Hotel is very good and within driving distance for many outings. All staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Great location, lovely grounds and nice room but let down by breakfast.

I’ve stayed before and was treated to a huge room, this one was quite tiny but perfectly adequate and nicely decorated. Bathroom is a little dated- toilet feels like a caravan loo! I love the spa but sadly most of it wasn’t working the night I was there. My main reason for the 7 is the breakfast. It’s truly a sad state of affairs. Not even a fresh pot of tea. Brunt sausages, obliterated eggs and no offer of poached or fried alternative. The whole thing has become buffet/self serve and honestly I wouldn’t bother paying for it again. A cereal bar would have just as much to offer.

Nice hotel, good spa, poor service, rude staff

Dear Simon, I recently stayed at your hotel as part of the 1 night signature spa break booked through spa seekers.com. Unfortunately overall I was not satisfied with the experience. On arrival our check-in was delayed by an hour and the front desk staff were rude. There was no assistance with the luggage and my mother who had a foot injury had to take her luggage up the stairs with no lift. At lunch time, food was delayed by an hour and at dinner it was delayed by 2 hours! When challenged on this the staff were rude and dismissive. On the next day there was meant to be an afternoon tea booked. However when asked about this, first staff denied all knowledge that this was part of the package and then suggested that by afternoon tea they meant cream tea. Now I checked this with spa seekers as well and they said that afternoon tea was definitely what was to be provided. Therefore we didn't receive the correct item listed as part of the signature package. I hope you understand this negative review and my disappointment with the stay. My husband was also very cross since he had booked this for me as a present and he feels it has been ruined. I hope you will now at least in some way try and make things right. You have a lovely hotel which is clean and character full, however the service provided needs to be improved if your standards are to be upheld. Yours Sincerely, Maheen T.

Staff pleasant & helpful however issues with a straight pin in bedding causing injury. Spa area dirty- lots of fluff and dust over the floor on consecutive days ( not cleaned) then an infestation of ants in same area
